Meet the maker
Homemaker turned soap maker.
It started as a search for a healthier alternative to the bars on the grocery shelf — the ones with ingredient lists you need a chemistry degree to read. So I learned to make my own: oils weighed to the gram, lye run twice through a calculator, batter poured by hand.
I also have two young working men at home who come through the door needing a little extra scrubbing. That’s how the Coffee Scrub bar got born, and it’s still the honest test every recipe has to pass.
Every bar is cold-process, cured for weeks on an open-air rack, and wrapped by hand. If it’s in the pot, it’s on the label.
How a bar gets made
Weighed
Olive oil for the gentle backbone, coconut oil held at 25% so it cleans without stripping, castor oil at 5% for a creamy lather, and shea butter left slightly unsaponified on purpose.
Poured
One mould at a time. Botanicals, grounds and clays go in at trace, then the loaf rests overnight before it’s cut into bars by hand.
Cured
Weeks on an open-air rack while the water leaves and the bar hardens. A rushed bar melts away in the shower; a cured one lasts.
